Remembrance of Things Past

Frozen no more! We've had a big warm up in Chicagoland, with temperatures in the high 40s and low to mid 50s, so much of the snow has melted. The big piles will still be with us a while, though. They're really dense and compacted, from show plows and such creating these very tall foothills – some taller than I am by far, and I'm 5' 6".

Believe me, we'll take it, even knowing this is just a flirtation with spring. Winter's not over yet. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Temperatures are expected to plunge back in to the 30s next week. And I'd bet on at least a couple more snows, though hopefully not like the blizzard. Please, not the blizzard!

If only the ground wasn't a muddy mess, and the remaining snow dirty and ugly. Even that's okay, though. It's one step closer to getting rid of all the accumulated snow and ice, and it's going to have to happen sometime. May as well be now.
