Please sit down for this.
I’m not proud of myself right now. Quite the opposite. I come to you, hat in hand, begging forgiveness. I’ve smashed the 11th Commandment to smithereens:
I’ve committed blogdultery.
I’m not sure how long I’ll be in Scotland, but for the time I’m here I’ve done some work on an Edinburgh-centric blog, focused on the city outside the guidebooks – more native than tourist. It’s called Eclectic Edinburgh, and is still in early stages. Staying in the home of a Scot who’s lived in this area at least 30 years, there’s the distinct advantage of in-depth familiarity with the city. He’s a living, breathing Google map with a deep love of the place. For as long as I can I’m seeing as much as I can.
I hadn’t planned for it to tramp on Bluestalking’s toes, but in researching I’ve earmarked loads of local literary-related topics of great interest to me. I now clearly see that’s crossing the line, relationship-wise.
Truth is, all my life experiences including my time here in Scotland, bookish exploits, etc., could possibly, and should possibly, be rolled together. It’s just that the Scottish experience is so singular, and the country wildly popular with a great readership I know is out there. She’s not just another pretty face, I swear. My head hasn’t been turned by a vapid coquette. Seductive? She is that.
Anyway. That’s where I’ve been, but I have a bookish post on the go for Bluestalking, as well. Promise. It’s been a busy time in my life. One day you’ll read about all the weirdness in my memoir…
