When I took this photo my daughter rolled her eyes in complete disgust. Why are you taking a picture of that, Mom?
Funny thing is, I have no idea. Because it was there? Seems as close a reason as any. It was there, and it caught my eye. That's my side of the story.
It’s so utilitarian and ubiquitous and yet it has an unexplainable artsy deco sort of vibe. I totally get why you took the shot.

Support! That’s what I needed. Glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Lisa – I have a photo of a fire hydrant I took when on my lovely visit to Chicago a few years ago. It caught my eye, I took it, loved it, showed it to my daughter whose reaction was the same as yours. It was an old 19th century one and I thought it was lovely. Whenever I visit anywhere my photos are of buildings, little corners, various viewes, hardly any people at all. My family think I am odd……
I love your photos!

Another positive vote! Thanks, Elaine. Now I can show my dearest daughter (ahem – ONLY daughter) others think the same as her mum… Not that she’ll take that as gospel, as you know how teenagers are. Sigh.
