How striking she was, strolling around the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Though it was very warm, she was all covered up, long sleeves and all, her umbrella protecting where her clothing couldn't. It's possible she had an allergy to the sun. It's uncommon, but does exist.
Whatever her reasons, she made a fascinating subject, just begging to be photographed.
I want to be her when I grow up. Comfortable in my skin and wearing what I like.

that photo is fantastic – absolutely fantastic. It looks like it could be the cover of a book.

Loved all the comments on this pic. I felt like a photo hound, taking several photos of her. But I never saw her face. She’s a woman of mystery. I think that’s the coolest part of all.
Love the orchid comment, kingofnewyorkhacks.
And Courtney, once you’re past 40, as I am (only three years!), you stop being so hung up on things in general. My family is more horrified by the things I wear/do than I am!!
Then again, when I was in my 20s I felt no embarrassment, in the Art Institute of Chicago with a friend, asking, “Where’s the painting of dogs playing poker?” Every now and then you just have to say what the…. heck.
